Here's a blog I never posted--ah the joys of limited internet access
I know 9-10 (or more) guys that know the violin, piano, and guitar! So I started wondering, what is it about this combination of instruments? As I pondered my question, I came across two observations:
Observation #1: They are guys
Observation #2: (a little less obvious) Each was either Asian or in ATI!
Hmm—well—I cannot speak for my Asian friends, but drawing from knowledge of ATI, I have decided upon this scenario.
As any good ATI parent knows, a child MUST learn Violin by three and become famous eventually—preferably by nine. After deciding that spanking the child into submission is not the entire key to success in making him learn his instrument, the parent decides to take some steps—maybe the child needs a teacher—and maybe an easier instrument—so the parent decides to start with piano. The child dutifully (and fearfully) practices these instruments—day after day—year after year—scale after scale after scale—until one day, in the middle of a long A sharp, the boy (for it is the boys that undergo this transformation) realizes that he no longer has to take this! He’s THROUGH!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! In a rash act of rebellion, he announces to his horror-stricken parents that he is finished with violin and piano! He will now take up GUITAR!! The parents, still not recovered from the shock that their little boy is not yet famous, reluctantly accept this decision, praying silently that their son would return to the strait-and-narrow shortly and not continue along this wayward path. The son beams at his triumph, as his sister looks on in shocked awe at his unthinkable boldness. She ponders what she has seen as she goes back to practice her viola—maybe she will try the flute later if Daddy allows.
So this is the story I have decided upon for my own satisfaction. Disagree if you like—everyone has their own music-lessons story. However, this shocking tale is more common among our male, ATI youth than we care to admit, I am afraid.
Finally Woken
Long lay the world in sin and error pining 'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorous morn.

Hospitality is a blessed thing . . . especially when it includes food (: Now I know why God commands it of Christians--there wouldn't be many Christians left if He didn't, I think--we'd all have starved by now. Bobbi's crown is in heaven, that's for sure. (: MAN! I'm not sure guys realize what they're getting in some girls--especially Simpson girls. It would be tough to be a guy here. ): Our girls rock!!! And WOW can they ever cook.
Jeanine--I know what you will say in response to this blog, but i care not! and don't forget . . . you're gonna be my roommate next year MUAHAHAHAHA
